JOB DESCRIPTION

 

REQUIRED TIME

 

Days and hours designated on the academic school calendar (200) days and when requested by the ELL Director or Chief Academic Administrator for training, meetings, and other intellectual functions.  A minimum of 200 days is scheduled.  On a regularly scheduled school day, instructors must clock in before the student’s arrival and clock out after the student’s departure.  However, there may be other times throughout the fiscal school year when a teacher must come in earlier or stay later than the academic day due to specific reasons designated by the ELL Director/Chief Academic Administrator or Southgate Academy Board.  In some cases, a particular instructor or group of instructors may be asked to perform a specific duty or task needed for the overall success of a particular program (A 24-hour notice will be given if extra work time should be scheduled).

 

SALARY

 

Wages include Prop 301 monies and depend upon certification/education, years of experience, and years of service at Southgate Academy.  All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be through the State of Arizona for a teacher to be paid according to the pay rate scale adopted by the Southgate Academy Board.

 

PERFORMANCE

 

The ELL Instructor shall be evaluated annually based on goals and objectives composed by the ELL Director/Chief Academic Administrator and the Southgate Academy Board.

SUMMARY:

 

The ELL Instructor of Southgate Academy facilitates the instruction of the English Language Proficiency Standards to increase student achievement in the AZELLA and AZ Merit state assessments for the school district's non-English speaking and limited English-speaking students.  The ELL Instructor's position works with the ELL Director and Chief Academic Administrator on the observation and data analysis progress of classroom participation for the non-English speaking and limited English-speaking students in the general education classroom.  Data analysis shall include student lessons, curriculum, and other instructional materials to meet the students' needs.  In collaboration, the instructor shall consider all state and school requirements and the physical, emotional, and educational levels of the student’s development.  Through written documentation, the ELL Instructor shall report student progress to the ELL Director to meet state and local compliance.
